It is not recommended that you sit at your computer for hours at a time, and now researchers fear that heavy computer use could be linked to various health conditions including glaucoma, which is especially common among those who are short-sighted. Glaucoma is caused by increased fluid pressure within the eye, compressing the nerves at the back, which can lead to blindness if not treated.

Another equally concerning condition is the first recorded case of a condition which has been dubbed e-thrombosis, whereby a man spent up to 18 hours a day using his computer. He developed a massive blood clot that formed in his leg veins, broke off and travelled to his lungs.

Our advice is to limit your computer use, ensure that you are not sat at your desk in the same position for hours at a time and to visit your opticians for regular eye check ups!
